Hard Work and Growth at Salons by JC Waco

Salons by JC is thankful to have people on our team that exemplify hard work, a strong work ethic and positivity every day. Today, we are highlighting one such example straight from one of our corporate locations in Waco, Texas.

Melissa Dresner, Concierge Manager at Salons by JC Waco, has recently accomplished what has not been done before. Under her management, the Salons by JC Waco location has reached capacity- meaning all 32 suites are currently filled with a salon suite owner.

Considering all her big accomplishments, you may be surprised to know Melissa found her way to Salons by JC just last July. “One of my friends’ daughters was a salon suite owner,” Melissa shares. “One day she called me saying the owner was going to be in town to look for a new manager and to meet him at 1:30. I was miserable in the job I had at the time so I quickly responded, okay!”

Since then, she credits much of her success within the location to the ladies that come into work every day. “I’m the bobby pin that holds everything together here, but I also have a great group of girls,” Melissa says. “They often come to me and tell me they enjoy being here. They’ve really done all the work. They’re the ones that have spread a good message about us to their community. I’m so blessed.”

According to Melissa, another ingredient to her recipe for success has been the seasoned salon suite owners that provide wisdom to new suite owners at Salons by JC Waco.

“The girls that have been here for a while are wonderful at sharing their knowledge with the newer ones,” Melissa shares. “Taking the first jump as an independent business owner can be scary, but my seasoned girls are great at sharing tips on things like taxes, how to save money long term, and social media to help the new girls out.”

Reaching full capacity is no simple task. What a lot of people may not realize is that reaching capacity is one part of the journey, maintaining it is the other.

“Being full is a very big deal,” Melissa shared. “When I came here, we had 13 empty suites. Some due in part to big life changes like growing families and moving away. At first, filling up empty suites wasn’t happening very fast and I started to feel a little discouraged, but not too long after things really started to pick up.”

Now that Salons by JC Waco has reached capacity, the goal for Melissa and her girls is simple. “Now we’re really focused on keeping the salon full and keeping everyone happy. I want our place to be the best place in town.”

It is leaders like Melissa who are ready to take ownership of their work and exude positivity while doing so, that make our Salons by JC locations special. As Melissa puts it, “When I go to work, it never really feels like work. It’s like going to see some of my best friends.”
