Diamonds truly are a girl’s best friend, especially if those diamonds are on the Miss America Crown. When Tracy Patton found out that current Miss America, Cara Mund, was going to be in town, she quickly offered her services to the reigning queen. “The Miss Connecticut program was celebrating their 90th year and were hosting a golf tournament. After the tournament, the keynote speaker at the dinner was Miss America. I contacted the Executive Director and they reached out to the Miss America Board and I was able to glam her up at her hotel prior to the dinner.”

A Salon Suite Fit for a Queen
Tracy just celebrated her two year anniversary with Salons by JC West Hartford. “It was the best career and professional decision that I have ever made,” she stated. Tracy has been a hair stylist for 18 years and had previously worked for someone at a salon and also as a booth renter. Aside from owning the very successful Hair Lounge, Tracy also helped start the Miss Hartford County Rocky Hill Pageant. “I helped run the local pageant for 9 years, and one of our girls captured the Miss Connecticut title in 2010,” she stated. Tracy is no stranger to the pageant competition circuit. She competed in the Miss America Scholarship Pageant, held a title for the town of Waterbury, CT, and competed in the Miss Connecticut Pageant in 2003. “While I was competing, I was also styling hair,” said Tracy. In 2010, Tracy had the opportunity to travel to Las Vegas where the Miss America pageant was being held to do hair and makeup for Miss Maine and Miss Connecticut in the preliminary competition.

The Glam Squad
Along with her good friend, Dianna Dowson of Beauitgasm, who also is a former Miss Connecticut, the two make up the Miss Connecticut Glam Squad. “I am the current hair sponsor for the Miss Connecticut Program and was in Atlantic City this past September with the reigning Miss Connecticut, Eliza Kanner as part of her Glam Squad.” Tracy always had a goal of becoming the hair sponsor for the pageant circuit, and it is amazing to see her reach that goal. In mid-June, she will be traveling to Orlando with the preparation committee to prepare the new Miss Connecticut and Miss Connecticut Outstanding Teen for their national pageants. “Wardrobe is part of the responsibilities along with the interview, talent, lifestyle and fitness,” stated Tracy.

Meeting Miss America
“With my history in the Miss America Organization, it was only natural for me to offer my services to the reigning Miss America,” stated Tracy Patton. Lucky for them, Cara’s scheduled allowed for a little “glam time” with Tracy. “Once I heard that it would all work out I was thrilled!” It was a great experience for both Tracy and Dianna. “Our Miss America is smart, sweet and beautiful. I already knew she was wonderful with all of the great things she has been doing as Miss America, but she is even more incredible than I thought. Such a beautiful person inside and out,” said Tracy. How was it holding the crown and the sash? Tracy said, “The crown was very cool to see up close and to be able to hold it, the sash made me ‘WOW’- the rhinestone trim and Miss America font had me starstruck!” What an honor and experience for this Salons by JC Salon Suite Owner!
