What makes Salons by JC the only choice when choosing a salon suite to take your beauty business to the next level? We asked four of our corporate concierges some of the most asked questions when they are touring potential salon suite owners. These ladies have been key players to the success of each of their locations. Meet Millee, Virgie, Maria, and Elvira.

Millee Allen – Concierge Salons by JC Dallas
There are plenty of salon suite options and competition, so why choose Salons by JC? Here is what both long-time tenants and newer tenants of Salons by JC Dallas have said: The number one reason Salons by JC stands out is the full-time salon suite concierge. If a potential tenant has not had management present before at previous place of employment, they will love having a full-time Salon Concierge who will address all kinds of issues.
The concierge takes care of issues such as children running in the hall, needing spare change, or even just adjusting the temperature to a client’s needs. Having someone to address these issues immediately makes a significant difference. New clients can be shown to their stylists’ salon suite and walk-ins can be helped to find the right professional for their needs. In cases of the salon suite owner having an emergency, if their stylist was unable to reach their client in advance, we (the Concierge) are able to give the client a personal message and provide recommendations for another stylist to take care of them. Our concierges are what put Salons by JC well above the competition. A beautiful website, our new app, and a well maintained, inviting salon is something to be proud of.
Millee Allen- Bio
Is a native Texan born in Longview and raised in Dallas. She’s been married for 25 years and loves cooking, especially with her husband. She started working in the beauty industry by managing a beauty supply store. She was recruited by Sebastian International and worked the Dallas distributorship for several years. Tired of the sales game, she began to manage a large hair salon in Dallas. During this time she met Melissa Finn, who would be the game changer for her years later. In 1998, Melissa partnered with Shirley Burns and opened Salon Savvy at a new Dallas salon suite concept named, Salons by JC. Millee followed them as their salon manager. A few years later, Millee became the full time Concierge for Salons by JC Dallas, the original corporate location. In 2018, Millee along with 4 other stylists will celebrate their 20 year anniversary alongside Salons by JC.
I’m afraid that my clients will not follow me. How do I make sure that all of my clients find me once I move to Salons by JC?
Virgie Macias – Salons by JC Westwood
Everyone is nervous to move or to make a change, but if you ask any of the salons suite owners at Salons by JC Westwood, each would way it was well worth the move and the investment they made for themselves and their career. We won’t lie, it is definitely a big jump and taking that leap into the unknown can be pretty scary. But if you put your heart and dedication into it, it will be the best decision you have ever made. Let your current clients know ahead of time what your new venture will be. Build up excitement about your move to Salons by JC. Give them ideas of what your salon suite is going to look like, show them pictures of the new location, and what your salon suite looks like before you customize it.
It’s also recommended that you look into Groupon and social media to build and strengthen your clientele base. The key is to make yourself visible all over social media. Create your business Facebook and Instagram page. Start letting your clients know that you are moving and also show off your services! Instagram is fantastic for the beauty industry.
Virgie Macias- Bio
Virgie Macias is the Concierge for Salons by JC Westwood in San Antonio, Texas. She started working at Salons by JC in February of 2014. She takes great pride in having her location at a high occupancy rate. Virgie took it upon herself to learn more about social media to be able to assist her location and her salon suite owners. Seeing the need to be more active and engaging with social media, she created an Instagram account for her location and started sharing posts from her salon suite owners to showcase the talent at the Salons by JC Westwood location. Virgie has now become a “social media go-to” amongst her Concierge peers. When not at the salon, she enjoys gardening, cooking and is a lover of Italian food.
How will Salons by JC help me grow my business so that I can be successful?
Maria Garcia – Salons by JC Legacy
Salons by JC has an exclusive app available to all of our tenants. Each tenant can manage, market, and network their individual businesses using the app. The best part about the app is that it is available to our tenants for FREE. This app also allows clients to request appointments, and this allows a salon suite owner to approve or deny the appointment time. Salon suite owners are also able to block off days on their schedule, to ensure accurate availability to their clients. The Salons by JC app also allows salon suite owners to pay their rent, eliminating the hassle of money orders or unnecessary paperwork.
Salons by JC also has an amazing corporate Facebook page where locations can get inspiration from. Each location also has their own individual Facebook page where concierges share posts promoting their salon suite owners.
Lastly, each Salons by JC location has its own website within the main website where tenants are displayed on a directory and can link to their own personal social media pages and websites. Our location features a digital directory that lists all the salon suite owners at Salons by JC Legacy. Not only does the touch screen directory give the names and room numbers of salon suite owners, it also lists their specialties and an option to upload a picture or logo if they want.
Salons by JC allows our suite owners to grow their business because each location provides the basic needs for their services. For example, for a hair stylist, we provide a hydraulic chair, shampoo chair, sink, mirror, and towel cabinet. Salon suite owners can personalize their space to fit their brand and their business style. Within each location, a hair stylist will refer their clients to a Nail Technician, and that nail tech will refer their client to an Esthetician, and so on. This is just another example of how a salon suite owners business will grow within the Salons by JC community. Word of mouth is very valuable amongst our salons. The business model was set up so that tenants simply pay rent for their salon suite, and we, Salon Concierges, are responsible for the upkeep of the building. Salon suite owners keep every penny they earn, which becomes very profitable and helps to grow their business.
Maria Garcia – Bio
Maria Garcia is the Concierge at Salons by JC Legacy. She was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and is the proud Mom of 2 children. Maria has worked in the beauty industry for 17 years, from salon receptionist, salon coordinator, to salon manager and most recently Concierge at Salons by JC. She heard about an opening at Salons by JC from a good friend who was leasing a salon suite. She submitted her resume and just celebrated 5 years with Salons by JC. She loves her Legacy location which has 55 suites. Her favorite thing about working at Salons by JC is the close relationships she has been able to form with her salon suite owners. In Maria’s words, “they are the best, they make me a better concierge”.
How much expense am I looking at to make the move to Salons by JC?
Elvira Lopez- Salons by JC Dominion Ridge
The type of expense you are looking at is based on how much product you are willing to invest in when you open up and also your budget for decor for your salon suite. Each salon suite at Salons by JC is fully customizable and comes equipped with everything you need to let you start working. If you are a hairstylist, you are provided with a hydraulic chair, shampoo chair, shampoo sink, mirror, and towel cabinet. Each suite comes in a neutral color, if you choose, you are more than welcome to bring in your own paint and we will paint your suite for you at no additional cost.
Many of our salon suite owners have much of their own equipment, since they have been practicing their craft for a good amount of time. This makes it easy for them to begin working immediately. You are welcome to bring in your own furniture and decor from home to start you off. As time goes by, many of our salon suite owners have new lighting installed in their suites. This expense is out of pocket. Once you decide the style of salon suite, you can start decorating and making the suite more of your own.
One of the cool things about our Salons by JC Dominion Ridge location is that we offer promotions to help get you started. For example, we currently have four free weeks of rent when you sign a lease with us. You are able to use two of those weeks up front and after 6 months use the other two. This offer will allow you to purchase some product and get some items that you may need to start you off. Our Salons by JC salon suite owners are also very welcoming and will give you ideas on share stories on when they first opened their business. You will never be without support.
Elvira Lopez – Bio
Elvira, known to all as Vida, started working at Salons by JC in March 2009. She has worked as the Concierge at many of the San Antonio corporate owned locations, such as Salons by JC Lincoln Heights, Salons by JC Huebner and most recently Salons by JC Dominion Ridge. Through her time with Salons by JC, Vida has taken a vital role in helping train new franchisees to understand the salon suite concept prior to their opening. Aside from her Concierge duties at Salons by JC Dominion Ridge, she also assists with maintenance orders for the San Antonio and New Braunfels locations and trains any new Concierges that start within the corporate locations. Her favorite part about working for Salons by JC is the challenge to keep her location at capacity. She loves meeting new people and enjoys greeting the clients as they come to the salon. In her free time, she enjoys walking, hiking, and spending time with her family.
