Salons by JC will open a High Point location in September at Oak Hollow Village on Eastchester Drive, announced Garret Bedrin, area developer for the franchise. Other Triad locations are open in Greensboro and Winston-Salem.

Bedrin and his family’s Bedrin Organization owns the retail center. Current tenants occupying some of the space where the new salon will open are Travel Leaders and Elements Hair and Body. The salon also will occupy an open unit, plus another 800 square feet will be added to the rear of the building.

Bedrin said the High Point location will have sliding barn doors and a tile entrance resembling a waterfall. The 26 suites will average 112 square feet with four dedicated to skincare and massage and two to nail care.

Salons by JC, which began franchising in Dallas and has locations in metro Charlotte and Raleigh, leases individual salon spaces to independent beauty operators, who are free to manage and own their own businesses. Suites include mirrors, shampoo bowls, chairs, cabinets for towels, hood dryers and roll carts for other tools and supplies. Walk-in customers are welcome Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“It’s an opportunity for stylists to own their businesses without the troubles of a full-service salon,” Bedrin said. “A lot of these professionals have the talent and the skill to go into business on their own, but they may not have the wherewithal or the business experience to open a large salon. This gives them a real opportunity to get a good start.”

Each Salons by JC features an on-site concierge to welcome clients, 24-hour video surveillance and secure electronic locks to access the building after regular business hours. At the High Point location, the independent beauty operators will rent their spaces in the low $200s range per week, Bedrin said.

Salons By JC opened at Caldwell Court shopping center, 2731 Battleground Ave. in Greensboro, in 2014. The location at St. George Square in Winston-Salem opened in June 2016 with 33 suites and was expanded by 13 more in November 2016. The two locations now have shared suites available day to day, much like a hotel room, starting at $50 per day.
