Hard Work and Passion: Team Barber Boy

From a young age, Justin Boykin had an affinity for playing with clippers and admiring the work of barbers. Born and raised in Mobile, AL, the passion that started at a young age only made him work even harder to achieve success quickly.

“One day, I saw a sign on White’s Barber College that said ‘No GED required’, so I went for it!” Justin shares. Ten years later, he owns his own business with his own employees at Salons by JC Mobile.

Building Team Barber Boy

Immediately after earning his barbering license, Justin began working at local barber shops in Mobile. “I started at a barbershop where I worked for 7 years until it shut down. Then, I moved to a local Barbershop and Hair Salon for 2 years,” he says.

From both salons, Justin established a steady list of clientele of all ages, but he also gained many of his clients through social media.

“Without social media, there is no #TeamBarberBoy and I’d still only be known in the city of Mobile” he proudly exclaims.

After establishing a steady clientele list, Justin was poised for more growth and independence in his barbering business. He began to look at his options when he learned about Salons by JC Mobile.

The Suite Life in Mobile

Justin had previously heard about Salons by JC from friends around him. “I’d heard about Salons by JC and how you get to start your own small business and decorate your suite how you want. It looked like Salons by JC was the perfect place for growth and a different variety of clientele.”

He quickly contacted the location and set up a meeting with Salon Owner, Rita Carter. Little did he know how quickly he would establish himself at Salons by JC. “I didn’t know the day we met would be the day I got my key to my very own salon suite, it was like love at first sight! All I saw was growth and greatness,” he excitedly shares.

Owner Rita Carter loves the energy Justin brings into the salon, saying “he is a joy to work with and everyone here loves him. He has one of the coolest looking suites in our salon.”

Justin takes great pride in his Team Barber Boy brand and his salon suite, as displayed by the two billboards he has advertising his business in Mobile, AL. “He is a hustler and stays booked!” Rita says.

With several magazine interviews under his belt and five months now at Salons by JC Mobile, Justin is optimistic about his future at Salons by JC. “The people are great here, the vibe is great, I can’t ask for more. My customers love it and my growth is coming along great. The best move I could have ever done.”
