The A&M Neighborhood Store was started as a partnership between Addis and her daughter, Mahlet.
Addis was motivated to open A&M store by a couple of reasons. “First, I saw my daughter Mahlet’s ambition for fashion. She has a natural passion and her drawings tell it all. I also witnessed how her designs are unique, and observed her talents from sketching to sawing in our own house. I believe if we introduce to my daughter so early a business model related to fashion, it will help her to develop her horizons as she approaches to her senior year. In that manner, Mahlet can design her own garments, and gradually change the business to her own and expand it. Second, our goal is to provide unique and trend merchandise locally and internationally to Colorado community.”
According to Mahlet, “I’ve always have had interest and passion for fashion. Growing up I would observe the different fashion trends going on so that’s what inspired me the most. As my mother mentioned I always wanted to have my own design store. I believe opening the store in Denver is a good start to expand my Networking and marketing skills. Since Salons by JC is located across from the University of Denver, I will have an opportunity to inspire young adults with my unique style. “
