Turning Walk-Ins Into Clients – Sharon’s Spot

May 23, 2019

Most salon suite owners already have a dedicated clientele list when they join Salons by JC. Sharon Clark, owner of Sharon’s Spot, was an exception. She joined Salons by JC Denton over four years ago, ready to start building her business from the ground up. “I moved to Denton from Wichita Falls, opening my salon with no clientele,” Sharon says.

“At the time, all she did were men’s cuts from a military base in Witchita Falls,” Salon Owner Brenda Reynolds adds. “She instantly signed a 5-year lease.”

Fast forward a few years later, Sharon has upgraded twice to larger salon suites and is now looking to expand her salon with a dedicated assistant.

From the Ground Up

Sharon took an incredible leap of faith when joining Salons by JC, but quickly knew the salon would be a great fit for her. “I chose Salons by JC because of the location. And they advertised and encourage walk-ins,” she states.

Knowing the salon was managed full-time, she set her business hours the same as the salon to make the most out of every walk-in.

“Sharon started off in one of our smallest salon suites. She set her own goals, was present every day, and works very hard to build her business,” Salon Owner Brenda says, expressing her admiration for Sharon’s work ethic.

“When a client comes in, she makes sure people know that she’s in business for herself. She hands out her business cards and takes really good care of her clients,” Brenda adds.

Decades of Experience

Sharon practically grew up in a salon, watching her mom and other hairstylists work their magic. “It was my playground,” she says. Now, with over 37 years of experience in the beauty industry, Sharon is thrilled to be her own salon owner. Setting her own schedule has allowed her to attend a variety of beauty classes, where she has learned about new coloring techniques, Brazilian blowouts, and much more.  These classes help her stay up to date on the latest trends.

Even with her lengthy clientele list, she still accepts new clients, saying “I can always make room on my books for new clients be it via walk-ins, social media, or referrals.”

Her permanent clients also love the service they get at Salons by JC, which is one of the primary reasons Sharon continues to expand at the salon.

“I love that there’s always someone to show clients to my room, towel service is amazing, the salon is always clean, and Steve and Brenda treat us like family!” Sharon gushes.

We love hearing these success stories from our salon suite owners. Thank you for sharing your story with us, Sharon!

ABOUT Salons by JC

In 1997, Jack Griffey and Cecil Miller began their journey to transform the beauty industry one salon suite at a time. Like most young entrepreneurs, they started out with a big idea but had to learn how to start and run a business from scratch. After much perseverance and hard work, one year later, they opened Salons by JC in Dallas, Texas in 1998, welcoming beauty and wellness specialists who were ready to break free from the traditional salon model. The company has since moved its headquarters from Dallas to San Antonio, where it continues to grow through franchising. Today, Salons by JC has nearly 100 locations in 26 states and Canada and are looking to develop of 200 over the next several years.
