Ketasha Jackson: Supreme Skin and Wax Bar

Aug 28, 2018

Follow your passion and the rest will take care of itself. Ketasha Jackson, an aesthetician at Salons by JC in Valrico, Florida, exemplifies this philosophy in her work every day. Her passion is what drove her to follow her aspirations to own and operate her very own esthetics studio— Supreme Skin and Wax Bar— straight out of school.

A New Endeavor

Before Supreme Skin and Wax came into being, it’s owner, Ketasha Jackson, was getting her start in the world of pharmaceuticals.  She had been offered a job, but she came to realize it was not her passion.  “I decided to go to aesthetician school as a knee-jerk reaction to the jobs offers I was getting,” Ketasha said.

Ketasha, who had always been a fan of facials and various forms of self-care, decided that her new endeavor would reflect her enjoyment of skin, beauty, and maintenance.  “I used to save up my money when I was in college to get facials. I have always been fascinated by this industry.”

Ketesha decided to take the leap of faith and open up her own business; an aesthetic studio. This was something she had always wanted to do but thought it would come sometime later in life. The time had come for Ketasha to begin her small business journey.

A twist of fate

“I had always known about Salons by JC,” Ketasha shared. “I had actually inquired about franchising with Salons by JC when my husband and I were talking about diversifying and considering purchasing a franchise.”

Ketasha became a fan of the Salons by JC salon suite model and became quite familiar with it.  At the time she was unsure if she was going to stay in Florida so the idea of franchising was put on hold.  As luck would have it, a former colleague of hers has just franchised with Salons by JC. This sparked her interest in salon suite ownership.

“I was going to the store one day and saw that a Salons by JC was opening, and I thought it was fate!   At the time I was attending aesthetician school,” Ketasha said. “The one that opened, the one I currently work out of, is only two miles from my house. This was meant to be.”

Immediately after finishing her aesthetician program, Ketasha visited Salon by JC and began the process of bringing Supreme Skin and Wax Bar to realization.

For the working woman

Ketasha’s clientele is comprised of busy women who don’t have the leisure time to enjoy a full spa day.  “Self-care is vital to be successful,” Ketasha says. “You can’t run yourself into the ground. You have to take the time to care for yourself.”

Ketasha has created a space where her passion for self care can flourish and has developed processes that enable her to be quite successful at it.  “It is easy to become successful as an aesthetician,” Ketasha shares. “You have to be able to connect the dots between customer service, the product, marketing, and professionalism.”

Ketasha’s vision is to expand her services to create a one-stop-shop that can cater to everyone’s needs.  “My ultimate goal is to have a place where the working woman can come in on her lunch break or in between conference calls to pamper herself,” Ketasha shares.

About Salons by JC: In 1997, Jack Griffey and Cecil Miller began their journey to transform the beauty industry one salon suite at a time. Like most young entrepreneurs, they started out with a big idea but had to learn how to start and run a business from scratch. After much perseverance and hard work, one year later, they opened Salons by JC in Dallas, TX in 1998, welcoming beauty and wellness specialists who were ready to break free from the traditional salon model. The company has since moved its headquarters from Dallas to San Antonio, where it continues to grow through franchising. Today, Salons by JC has over 87 locations in 24 states and Canada.  For more information, visit salonsbyjc.com or salonsbyjc.com/franchise
